The Frederick Gunn School
Supporting all those committed to participating in the performing arts has been at the forefront of Mr. Perakos' efforts for the past five decades.
He describes the Arts & Community Center as “the greatest accomplishment of my life.”
“Bringing joy and creative educational opportunities of this magnitude to others is forever in my heart and the most important part of my legacy.”
Thomas S. Perakos Arts & Community Center
Opened in 2019 through Mr. Perakos' leadership gift, the 32,000-square-foot center is the creative heart of campus. Its 415-seat theater, set into the hillside, hosts productions, concerts and the all-school gatherings that anchor student life.
Built with stone from local quarries and wood reclaimed from trees on the site, the LEED Silver certified building also welcomes local and regional arts groups, opening its doors to the town of Washington.
“If you believe in yourself, your dreams can become reality.”
Mr. Perakos returned to Frederick Gunn School in May 2025 and delivered a heartfelt and memorable 175th anniversary commencement address.
