The Parish Council of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain, Connecticut, has announced a new chapter for the parish, made possible by the extraordinary generosity of Thomas (Athanasios) Steven Perakos.

Through his substantial donation, the church has eliminated the remaining loan on its property at 9 Grove Hill Street. The gift was made in loving memory of his brother Peter Perakos, his mother Uky (Urania) Perakos and his father Steven Perakos, whose devotion to family, faith and community continues to inspire the parish.

Mr. Perakos also fully funded the feasibility study for the building the parish plans to construct on the property: a residence of 15 apartments with office space, designed for individuals aged 55 and older. Located directly across from the church, the planned facility would allow independent elder members of the community to remain closely connected with the life of the church and their fellow parishioners.

"May God bless Athanasios Perakos for his inspiring generosity, and may He grant eternal rest to Peter and Uky (Urania) Perakos, whose memory lives on in this beautiful act of faith and love."
